Zoom鈥憈hemed phishing emails are currently targeting the BC community. These messages are designed to steal credentials or install harmful software, and many look completely legitimate 鈥� often polished, detailed, and free of spelling errors. Some may even come from real Zoom email addresses.
Bottom Line: Be cautious of any Zoom鈥憆elated email that urges quick action, warns of violations, or asks you to log in unexpectedly.
Recent Scam at BC
We鈥檝e seen a fraudulent Zoom 鈥渋ntellectual property violation鈥� notice that:
- Appears to come from a real Zoom sender.
- Uses Zoom branding and a 鈥淩eference ID.鈥滵irects you to a fake login page.
- Includes a fake 鈥渦nsubscribe鈥� link that collects additional information.

Other Zoom鈥憈hemed scams in higher education include:
- Fake 鈥淢issed Meeting鈥� or 鈥淯rgent Zoom Call鈥� alerts.
- 鈥淐onnection Issue鈥擱ejoin Immediately鈥� notices.
- Malicious Zoom Docs spreading malware.
- Fake Zoom invites requiring a 鈥渃lient update.鈥�

- Do not click links.
- Do not enter BC credentials.
- Do not download attachments/software.
- Do not reply or forward.

What To Do
- Forward suspicious messages to phishing@bc.edu.
- If phishing@bc.edu marks a message 鈥渓egitimate鈥� but it still seems suspicious, escalate to security@bc.edu.
- If you may have shared sensitive information, contact security@bc.edu immediately.
