The BC Global鈥擟ampion Hall Residency Fellowship is facilitated by the Boston College Office of Global Engagement. This fellowship supports Boston College faculty members undertaking medium- to long-term academic or research visits at the University of Oxford.
Overview
Campion Hall is the Jesuit College at Oxford, centrally located adjacent to Christ Church. It offers a unique environment that combines the intellectual and educational traditions of the Society of Jesus with the academic excellence of Oxford. Fellows become part of an international community of scholars and staff motivated to "serve all things human."
- Terms of the Fellowship
- Duration: Appointments are available on a semester-long or monthly basis throughout the year.
- Priority: Strong preference is given to stays of two months or more, or an entire Oxford term.
- Short Stays: While shorter stays may be considered, they receive lower priority.
- Funding: The fellowship covers the cost of accommodations. Please note that this fellowship does not include a stipend or salary.
- Engagement: Fellows are encouraged to engage with colleagues at Oxford and actively promote the BC-Oxford Partnership.
- Community Life: BC Global Campion Fellows are warmly welcomed to participate in the social and academic life of the Hall, including seminars, teas, and other gatherings.
A Global Community
Fellows reside in "Flat A," located within the historic, Lutyens-designed section of Campion Hall.
The Residence

- Layout: A furnished two-bedroom apartment featuring a full kitchen, bathroom, and living room.
- Amenities: The flat includes a hairdryer, linens, and an initial supply of basic household items (e.g., toilet paper). Residents are responsible for purchasing further supplies as needed.
Living Arrangements
- Services: The flat is unserviced. Residents are responsible for their own cleaning and laundry.
- Maintenance: Tenants are expected to keep the flat in a good state of repair and decoration during their stay.
- Dining: While the flat has a full kitchen, residents may also choose to take meals in the Hall鈥檚 refectory for a reasonable per-meal cost.

- Access: Access to the flat requires using a platform lift between the ground and second floor, followed by 33 steps up to the flat.

To be considered for the residency, faculty members must submit a formal application. Priority is given to applicants who demonstrate a clear research goal and a commitment to the BC-Oxford partnership.

- Oxford Affiliations: A list of any current affiliations at Oxford or colleagues with whom you intend to collaborate.
