Academic Year and Summer Courses
The following provides important information regarding the late course drop process, course withdrawal process, and summer courses. Please read through each section carefully. If you have further questions, you may email aac@bc.edu and our team will help answer your question or redirect you, as needed.
Late Course Drop Deadline: Monday, February 16, 2026
You may drop (but not add) a course from your schedule by submitting the Late Drop Form online by the published deadline above. If you drop a course by this deadline, the course will be permanently removed from your record and you will not incur a W grade. As a result of the course drop, you may incur credit deficiencies. Please review the Late Drop: What You Need to Know info sheet prior to submitting a drop request.
For First-Year Students in the Fall Semester Only
In the fall semester, all first-year students are required to meet with an AAC staff member to discuss their drop request before their request is approved. If you fail to meet with an AAC staff member, your drop request will not be processed.

A meeting is not required to drop a course in the spring semester.
Course Withdrawal Deadline: Thursday, April 23, 2026
You may withdraw from a course by submitting the Course Withdrawal Form online by the published deadline above.聽If you withdraw from a course, you will have a W grade permanently recorded in your academic record. A grade of W has no effect on your GPA, but you may incur credit deficiencies. Please carefully review the Course Withdrawal: What You Need to Know info sheet to learn how to make up credits.

Students can take summer courses for enrichment or to make up for a past failure, withdrawal, or underload. Students can take a maximum of four courses per summer.聽
Students may choose to take summer courses at any accredited four-year college or university for enrichment or credit.聽 Only students who have credit deficiencies can receive credit for pre-approved courses taken outside of Boston College. Students taking courses for enrichment should review the summer course policy on the Academic Policies page.聽
Students must submit a Course Pre-Approval Form prior to registering for the summer course outside of Boston College.
Non-BC Summer Courses: Credit vs. Enrichment
